2002 TATIARRA CARAVAN OF DREAMS SHIRAZ PRESSINGS
Heathcote, Victoria
This was the first year that Tatiarra produced a vintage under the newly formed companies label although the vineyard was not yet under the full supervision of the winemaker and viticulturist. Opaque black dark red colour with very deep dark red hue. The nose displays excellent lift with aniseed top notes followed by some liquorice allsorts, blackberry and confectionary with some clove and toast characters as end notes. The palate is in transition stage and is beginning to shed some of its voluptuous baby fat fruit characters as the tertiary flavours slowly evolve. Mouthfilling flavours of aniseed and liquorice dominate the front palate and are followed by some blackpepper and toasty earth like characters on the back palate. Super fine grained, slightly dryish but balanced tannins with very long aftertaste of aniseed, confectionary, blackpepper and toasty cedar. Note the cork had dried out and was a little difficult to extract.
Cellar a further 3-4 years.
